Words About Great Personalities from Shri Sukhadia Ji

Mahatma Gandhi

My sanskars in politics were due to Father's teaching in childhood. Father was a firm believer of Gandhiji's ideology and because of it, he used to discuss about Gandhiji’s Values & freedom struggle with the visitors.

Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru

Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru

When I was elected Chief minister in 1954, Panditji had no confidence in his heart that I would be able to handle the complicated politics of Rajasthan.

When I confidently told them that all the results are going to be good, the Congress would win in Rajasthan, I felt a sense of trust on his face.

Congress has won in large number in 1957 Elections. Then, from that day Panditji relalized in his heart that even a youth can be a changemaker in any region in the field of politics. He had a sense of affection. The overall motivation, the idea, the intention was always coming from him.

The Memories of Panditji revolves in my mind today. When the Chinese invasion occurred, I remember that day when I went to the secretariat to meet him, and I said, ' What are you going to do now? ' Pakistan, on the one hand, is challenging in the name of Kashmir. The UK and the United States insist that there should be an agreement on Kashmir. Panditji gave a reply with a sharp face that we would like to break down, but we cannot bow down to Kashmir or anything else. It was always in his mind that bowing in a way is not only detrimental to the country but also to the human being. Therefore, wherever there is a question of self-respect, we must be prepared to compete with all kinds of sacrifices.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel - Mohanlal Sukhadia

When he came for inauguration of Udaipur State, I got the impression of his tenacity. But got an opportunity to understand him about how he respects the public functionaries, when Mr. Jain was appointed as secretary on behalf of the Government of India from the Indian side after becoming the old Rajasthan. We, who were in the cabinet of old Rajasthan and whose leader, Shri Maniklal Verma, did not understand the fact that the Chief Secretary should be thrust from outside. Despite the condition that the Chief secretary had reached Udaipur, we also decided to go Delhi. In Delhi, approached Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and told him that we know that the Chief Secretary has come to us by your order, yet it is a question of our honour. You must accept our point. Many of the men were too hesitant to meet them but we were glad to see that when we put it before him that it was a question of our honour, he said that it cannot be administratively changed, but because you have decided it and the whole people Know that you have this conviction, I immediately call the chief Secretary back here. The Chief Secretary whom we wanted was appointed by him.

After that, the second occasion which I received to meet him was on the appointment of the Chief minister of big Rajasthan.

Shri Jaynarayan Vyas

Jaynarayan Vyas - Mohanlal Sukhadia

I have been listening to the name of Shri Jaynarayan Vyas since long. Even before we came into close contact, in Jodhpur, as a steadfast leader, he was also talked as a fighting leader in Mewar. He had a respectable place in the country also. When there was an opportunity of Uniformation in Rajasthan, we had the inclination towards Shri Jayanarayan Vyas on that occasion.

Then, when Shri Jaynarayan became the cabinet Minister, he gave me the opportunity to work with him for a long time.

Shri Jaynarayan Vyya was standing in the general election of 1952, but, unfortunately, he lost. After he lost, the question of forming a cabinet was raised. Maybe, today, some people, who are old, might know this thing, but many may not know that our senior leaders in Rajasthan and a lot of people were mostly of the opinion that the majority of the Congress wants me to take the lead.
